Pinterest…. Have you heard the word?

If you haven’t already heard of Pinterest, then get out from under that rock and see for your self.  Pinterest is a great website where people from all over the world are able to post or “pin” images from other websites to share with the rest of the Pinterest community. You can pin anything from fashion to recipes to home decorating ideas to a cute picture of a little puppy.  It’s basically a way to spread ideas through images.  If you see an image that interests you on Pinterest, click on it, and you will be directed to the original website that the image came from.

With your personal profile you can create “boards” for each of the categories that you pin things into the most such as Travel or Fitness.  If you come across an interesting article, photo, or diy on the internet, you can pin that link to one of your boards for your followers to see.

It’s a great way to organize your favorite things that you find on the internet and share them with friends.  Here at the Inn, we love to pin fun recipes and decorating ideas that may inspire us for our events that we host.  We also use Pinterest as a tool for following other Bed and Breakfasts and sharing ideas with them.  Check out our boards here.

Don’t fear the Biscotti

Homemade Biscotti from the Main Street Inn

If you drink a hot beverage anytime during the day, whether it be coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, you should love biscotti.  I’ve noticed that some people tend to shy away from it, fear it almost, because it seems like an extra crumbly, super hard, difficult to eat cookie/biscuit thing.  But, this is not the case!  The second you dip that delicious piece of biscotti into your beverage it transforms into a soft and easily edible delight that just melts in your mouth.

Here at the Main Street Inn, we have decided to show our guests a little bit of homemade appreciation by putting a complimentary bag of biscotti in the each room.  This is our way of saying a personal thank you to all of the wonderful people that choose to stay with us at the Main Street Inn.

As for the biscotti recipes, we have been formulating our own and altering ones that we find on the internet.  After baking so much biscotti, it becomes obvious the ratio of ingredients that go into making a basic biscotti dough, and from there the possibilities are ultimately endless.  Here are a few that we’ve found that our guests really enjoy:

Caramelized Pecan Orange Biscotti

Double Chocolate Cranberry Biscotti

Holiday Biscotti

Chai Biscotti

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Biscotti

Lemon Pistachio Biscotti

So, go ahead! Give em a try!  I bet you already have all of the ingredients already in your pantry.  And you can customize them any way you want.  Throw in any chopped nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, spices, whatever you want!  I hope this short post will help to alleviate your fear of baking and eating biscotti, and be sure to let us know if you try any of these great recipes or if you’ve come up with some new ones of your own that you might want us to try here at the Inn!
